Mission Statement

Insomnia is a community of RIFT players on the Guardian AND Defiant faction of the Hailol server. We run progression-focused raid groups, role-play and general PVE & PVP content. We enjoy pushing the envelope of what our classes can do, and overcoming challenges as a team; we aim for excellence in both PvE and PvP. We neither instigate nor participate in flame wars or server drama. Instead, we contribute to the Hailol community by holding interesting events and maintaining a positive presence. Our members are encouraged to outstanding performance, conduct, and community contribution.

Standards of Conduct

Insomnia only accepts players who will contribute to the guild community - skilled people who share its values and goals, and harmonize with the diverse personalities we have. Every member has a chance to review new applications and provide feedback before a decision is made. New applicants are evaluated with respect to Insomnia's standards of conduct, which all members are expected to adhere to:

1) Insomnia is a community-minded team. The actions of each member reflect on the entire guild. As such, we expect our members to act in ways that reflect positively on themselves and on the guild image; this includes interactions in all chat media in-game, as well as in Ventrilo and the official RIFT forums. We expect our members to be respectful to all players, regardless of their guild or faction association.

2) Team play is a hallmark of an Insomnia member, whether that takes the form of endgame PvE and PvP or helping out fellow guild members with Dungeons, Raids, class missions, or cooperative RIFT runs. We expect members to help out whenever possible, and to put the needs of a group or another individual ahead of their own when the situation calls for it.

3) Participation in guild and server events is strongly encouraged, but not required. Our members play on many different schedules, and are spread across the country and the globe. That said, we are a community-focused guild, and events provide an excellent opportunity to build on the relationships we have established.

4) We send guild invites to people, not characters. We're not looking for particular classes, top-level gear, or extensive skill and itemization knowledge. Though these things are an important part of a person's application, we are concerned with how a person performs in their class and how they fit into to our existing community.

5) Leadership roles in Insomnia are decided based on the needs of the guild, and are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding experience, skill, maturity, and consideration for their fellow members. A leader should strive to improve the guild, and members’ experience with the guild. Our Leader and Officers work hard to make Insomnia the best guild it can be.

6) Inter- and intraguild drama is not permitted under any circumstances. To this end, information discussed in guild forums, guild chat, or in whispers should not be talked about outside that forum, chat, or whisper without the express permission of the guild or player. This applies to all conversations, however minor they may seem. Trust is an integral part of any community, and betraying the trust of the community by spreading inappropriate information is unacceptable. Concerns about any member of Insomnia should be directed to guild leadership.

7) While we do not have a policy of removing inactive players, our members are expected to notify leadership of any planned absences from the game. Players who have not logged into the game in over 30 days will be placed on an inactive list with limited guild privileges, and longer periods of unexplained inactivity may result in a removal from the guild.

8) Members who do not or cannot follow guild standards will be removed from the guild.

PvP Standards

Exploits/Hacks: Any member of Insomnia who is found to be using exploits or hacks of any kind will be kicked from the guild and reported to customer service.

Smack/Trash Talk: Disparaging interactions of any kind are discouraged, especially in PVP. We want to foster mutual respect, and often even well-meant chat in /say can seem mean-spirited. Even if our opponents are doing something considered "unfair," we find ways to work around it; we understand that PvPers play to win, and not everyone has the same standards for acceptable behavior. If you believe that someone from Insomnia has behaved inappropriately, please report your concerns to our leadership via our feedback form or in-game email.

Leaving warfront zones: Insomnia strongly discourages members from leaving warfront areas. Under no circumstances will Insomnia members leave a warfront because their team is losing. If a real-life situation comes up that requires immediate attention, members are encouraged to take a few seconds to explain in raid/group chat why they are leaving.

Guild Structure

The F&F Leader and Raid Leader serve as our president, monarch, and general, providing leadership in public relations, guild policy, and event planning. Our Raid Officers and F&F Officers typically deal with the more nuts-and-bolts aspects of running the guild, like managing the guild bank, the website, and dealing with player concerns. Members of our Raid/Progression PvE groups are denoted by their "Raider" rank specific to each raid group(s), and members who primarily play in a less hardcore capacity are denoted by the "F&F Member" rank.
